Dreams Once Lost

A couple's mysterious journey through the memories and passages of love.

Written and directed by Alan O'Hare

An excerpt from the play:

Dear Doctor Winn,
I've been thinking a great deal about what you said during our last visit. Your questions as I remember them were: "Can you accept where Marion is? Would you let her drift away, if you knew she might not return again?"

Over and over again I hear those words. They're very unsettling, but at the same time maybe they helped wake me up to what I need to do.

Marion still seems to like being around the grandchildren, but more and more the visits seem to disorient her. She spends the next number of hours after they've gone wondering who those lovely people were. Whatever answer I give, it doesn't seem to satisfy her. Only upset her.

I know that she really loved her music of years gone by, and she also loved to dance. I will do whatever I can to keep that music alive in her.

It's strange, Doc, but I came across this quote in the past few days, and for some reason it's been spinning around inside me. "Don't worry about saving these songs. If one of our instruments breaks, it doesn't matter. We have fallen into the place where everything is music."

Edmund
